# Artifacts - FOLK Wiki

> What they are and where to find them.

Artifacts are odd little things you find around the world. You need them to summon new Folks.

## How to get them

Beat a wild Folk at your Folk's level or higher and it always drops one of the artifacts used to summon it. Rarer ones come up less often. A few also come from the Island Journal, the crow, or the boss.

## What they are for

- Summon a new Folk. Each Folk needs its own set.
- Sell them to the Wandering Merchant for coins. He wants different ones each day, and pays more if your reputation is good.
- Offer them at the Church to raise your reputation.
- Sell them to other players at the Swap Shop for a small listing fee (Rare or better only).
- Send them as gifts to a friend. Each gift costs 20 coins in postage.

Each Folk's page lists the artifacts it needs. See [Folkopedia](https://folk.lol/wiki/folks).

## Rarity

Backpack weight is how much room one artifact takes: your backpack holds 100 in all.

| Rarity | Backpack weight | Merchant pays | Church reputation | Swap Shop |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Common | 1 | 5 coins | +1 | No |
| Uncommon | 2 | 15 coins | +2 | No |
| Rare | 3 | 40 coins | +4 | Yes |
| Epic | 4 | 100 coins | +8 | Yes |
| Legendary | 5 | 300 coins | +16 | Yes |
