1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Folk (“the Game”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not play the Game.

2. Eligibility & Accounts

You must be at least 13 years old (or the higher minimum age required in your country) to play the Game. If you are under 18, you may only play with the consent of a parent or legal guardian, who is responsible for your use of the Game.

To play, sign in with a supported provider: Google, Telegram, X, or Bluesky. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and of the provider account you sign in with. We are not liable for any loss resulting from unauthorized use of your account.

3. Virtual Items

All virtual items in the Game - including but not limited to Folk creatures, points, food, and other in-game currency or items - are earned through play. The Game currently offers nothing for purchase, and we do not sell any digital goods for real money. If we introduce purchases in the future, we will update these Terms with payment and refund terms before doing so.

Virtual items are licensed to you, not sold. They have no real-world value and cannot be exchanged for real currency, goods, or services outside the Game. We reserve the right to modify, manage, regulate, or eliminate virtual items at our sole discretion.

4. Your Content

Anything you put into the Game that other players can see - such as your display name and avatar - must follow the conduct rules below. We may remove or reset content that violates them. You grant us the right to host and display such content as part of operating the Game.

If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them freely, without obligation to you.

5. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

Harass, threaten, or abuse other players
Use cheats, exploits, automation, bots, or any unauthorized third-party software
Engage in behavior that falls outside normal human gameplay patterns
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other players’ accounts or game systems
Engage in any activity that disrupts the Game or its servers
Share, buy, sell, or trade accounts, or trade virtual items outside the Game except through officially supported mechanisms
Create multiple accounts

6. Intellectual Property

All content within this game, including text, graphics, logos, and software, is the property of Folk Software Pte. Ltd. and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Unauthorized use or reproduction is prohibited.

Non-commercial fan art and fan content are welcome - just don’t present them as official or use them to sell anything.

7. Termination & Service Availability

We may suspend or terminate your account for violations of these Terms. You may stop playing at any time and request deletion of your account. When your account is terminated or deleted, your license to virtual items ends.

We do not guarantee that the Game will remain available indefinitely. We may modify or discontinue the Game (in whole or in part) and will give reasonable advance notice where practicable.

8. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Game is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Game.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes we will give reasonable advance notice, for example in the Game or on this site. Continued use of the Game after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore. If you are a consumer, you additionally benefit from any mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of that country.

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect. These Terms do not create rights enforceable by anyone other than you and us.
